The Allegretto is considered to be the fastest and safest of all the eye correction lasers available on the world market today. The excimer eye surgery offers a reliable and safe alternative to the correction of refractive errors. It is painless and is performed at the clinic on an Outpatient Surgery basis.

SAFETY

The safety of the laser operation is the essential requirement for a successful outcome, eliminating any kind of damage to health. For this reason the Company Wavelight developed the unique technology called ‘Perfect Pulse’. This sophisticated technology guarantees that:

• During the whole laser eye surgery, each and every application of the laser beam is totally controlled.
• Local factors such as humidity and heat are totally eliminated since the optics of the apparatus are fully insulated.
• It is equipped with a fast eye tracking system which tracks the position and also the slightest movement of the eye 400 times per second. This means that each application of the laser beam is in the correct position. That’s why even if you were to move your eye, the laser will keep its perfect position – there is no need to worry that moving your eye would cause damage.
• Using intelligent spacing of the laser beam on the cornea, we eliminate overheating of the cornea.
   

ACCURACY

The results of the initial consultation are entered into the computer controlled laser Wavelight Eye-Q. Based on these results, the instrument creates an exact profile of treatment to ensure an accurate and sensitive result.Furthermore with the ability to use the unique software ‘Datalink’ the doctor can compare and authenticate the accuracy of the results with around 30,000 laser operations on the International database.

The laser Eye-Q uses a very small laser beam, only 0.68mm wide which shapes the surface of the cornea – like a fine file. The controlled uniform energy of the beam from when it’s first created until its termination guarantees that the whole surface of the cornea will be smooth. This promotes faster healing and high quality results.

SPEED AND RESULTS OF THE FDA CERTIFICATE

All operations performed with an excimer laser Eye-Q are Wavefront optimised. The quality of vision after the operation is better than with the older generation of laser systems, and unwanted effects – such as blurred night vision, are eliminated. In fact most patients have improved night vision after the operation than before.

The individual laser eye surgery using the Eye-Q laser lasts only a few seconds. The speed of the laser pulse is 400 Hz and the removal of 1 diopter therefore takes approximately 2.5 seconds. It is the fastest laser with the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) certificate in the world. The high speed reduces the risk of infection caused by exposure of the operation site to the air. Also, clinical studies prove that the faster the operation time, the shorter the healing process and the quicker the restoration of normal vision due to the lower stresses on and the reduced dehydration of the eye.

RESULTS

FDA (Food and Drug Administration) Certificate is the most valuable certificate a leading edge company can acquire:

1. Proof of quality – to obtain the certificate the company must meet demanding criteria. 
2. It authorizes the holder of the certificate to trade its products on the richest market in the world – USA.

Each applicant who applies for the certificate must prove that his apparatus or healing method works, and that he can forecast constant results. Clinical studies of the product or method are closely monitored by independent institutions. Anyone who declines the FDA certificate doesn’t want to sell its products on the world’s richest market. Every manufacturer who has authentic top quality technology, sooner or later will acquire the FDA certificate.

The Company Wavelight, obtained their first FDA certificate for their lasers on the basis of a clinical study on 1200 eyes in 2003 and consecutively they now own 4 certificates. It is the only excimer laser system in the world that holds the FDA certificate for all types of refractive errors wavefront optimized (WL. WFO).

In addition to obtaining the FDA certificate (FDA certificate 2006) the laser Allegretto Wave Eye-Q 400Hz is also the fastest system in the world.

It’s predecessor, an older model Allegretto Wave 200Hz is 50% slower (FDA certificate 2003).

Explanation:

• Perfect eyesight 20/20 represents a healthy human eye without any refractive errors. A 20/40 vision - half of the perfect vision – is sufficient to obtain a driving license.

• 92.8% of eyes operated with the 400Hz Eye-Q laser had 20/20 vision 6 months after the operation
• 95.2% of eyes operated had diopters in the range of +/- 0.5 and 100% up to +/- 1D at 6 months after the operation.
